Our clients had originally bought this property as a rental investment before deciding to move in and undertake an extensive renovation. We worked with our clients to accommodate them onsite during the build, thus saving money on temporary accommodation. We wanted a quick result for them and managed to complete this complex and detail oriented job in just five months.

The renovation presented some challenges. The entire existing second floor was not compliant and so was removed, stripping the house down to a single storey before building commenced. The property also features an adjoining two bedroom secondary dwelling which legally requires a fire-rated wall between it and the main residence.

The brief was for an impressive, Hamptons style beach home with a generous front deck that captures the ocean views, intricate feature timberwork, a gabled roof and bay windows. Inside the layout is reversed with open plan living upstairs to capture the views and more intimate spaces downstairs. The living area features a large sandstone chimneypiece with a gas fire, raked ceilings with electric skylights and hardwood flooring.
